Darkblade
are based in Greenfield on the edge of Saddleworth Moor. On a crisp
winters day looking out of the window you can almost see the goblins
arriving at the Battle of the 5 armies.
We've
been building leather stuff for Larp full time since 1996 (plus 5
years before as a hobby), designs guided by our many years of larping
experience(fighting, dying, running away, the usual stuff)
In
recent years we've also bought in things we can't make, weapons,
costume and other bits so we can offer the complete service. When
sourcing products we don't make we've used the "would I be happy
with this?" principle to make sure the quality is what you would
want.
Our
first love though is not moving stuff from a suppliers box to your
package (although for you we'll make that sacrifice). No, what we
really enjoy is designing and building leather stuff for you to Larp
in.

Policy
If
you open the box and it doesn't fit, the colour's not what you
thought it would be or you're unhappy in any way shape or form let us
know (larp@Darkbladeuk.co.uk or 07952 564804) and we'll try to put
the smile back on your face. We're happy to exchange stuff provided
you haven't used it (trying it on does not constitute using it,
wearing it for a 24 hour linear adventure does)
Stuff
we made. If it breaks and we made it we will always fix it for free.
Forever. Even if a bit of it's just worn out. If it can't be fixed
just what did you do to it?
Stuff
we didn't make. If it breaks we will try to fix it or get it fixed,
if that fails then we will replace it. Fair wear and tear excluded.
A short story to stop
you getting bored....
DARKBLADE
Lindisfarnie
In
the aftermath of a punitive expedition by Empire troops a hapless
monastery is ransacked by mercenaries and brigands. There are no
survivors. Well, almost none. As they prepare to move out the last of
the raiders’ attention is caught by a beast-like noise from one
of the supposed corpses…
With
a groan Arnie pulled his face up from the dirt and cast a bleary eye
across the surrounding devastation. His first thought was to check
that his purseof gold
was still in his pouch.
His erstwhile comrades, the monks of the Moniack monastery lay
unmoving all around. The smell of burned incantors hung heavy in the
air.
“They
should’ve bought themselves some decentarmour,”
he
murmured.
“This
one’s still alive.” The words came to his ears through

– the
hood that had stopped the blow to his head from making of him a
sparrow’s feast. He turned slowly towards the sound of that
voice…and saw her. Something flared in his memory even as the
shapely form before him caused his tongue to taste mud of its own
accord.
She

into the barren desert of her warrior brain.
“You’re
the guy from the bar.” It had been some years but she still
remembered. He grinned inanely at her (it was the only kind of grin
he knew how to do). She stepped back away from, her hand hovering
over hilts of her swords.
The

Arnie against approaching too quickly.
His

holder,despite
the fact that he didn’t know how to cast spells – a bluff
that had saved him more than once in the past. She took another step
back. A stray shaft of sunlight reflected from the metal of her

“What’s
with the tonsure?” she asked. Now it was Arnie’s turn to
show puzzlement. He scraped the back of his tongue on his leather
pants and gave her the answered he hoped she was looking for.
“I
haven’t got any. I had them taken out when I was in the army.
They didn’t even give me ice cream.”
About Us –
The Long Version
Tim Belcher is the main man at
Darkblade, lives in Oldham, has been married since 1997 years and has
2 small daughters who always seem to need new shoes. He/Darkblade has
been producing leather stuff for LARP since 1996 (and 5 years before
that on a “hobby” basis). Don’t ask how long he’s
been playing because his memory isn’t that good after so many
head shots.
Darkblade are usually around
at the majority of events but now offer this website as an easy,
alternative, way to purchase our goods.
Darkblade is based in the
Oldham area and inhabit a 460sq ft workshop to manufacture the goods.
During the course of a typical year we get through 250,000 rivets and
6,000 sq ft of leather and suede…this is usually hammered and
shaped on a ¾ HWT anvil and then stored in (approx.) 150
crates…yes, the workshop is cramped.
Even though we carry a large
amount of stock most of the goods you see on this website are hand
made, therefore there may be a little delay in shipping your order as
we may have to build it. But, if you let us know when you need that
vital bit of kit for we will try and accommodate you. Also, if you
have an idea for a piece of kit and can’t find it here let us
know and we will see if we can build it (see The Short Version).
Oh, on a last note, if you don't pay up for stuff you have ordered we will send round Derek the Credit Controller
